Bose Sells Professional Audio Division

Private equity firm Transom Capital takes over Bose Professional, which targets integrators with loudspeakers, amplifiers and more.

Bose Corporation, arguably the most-recognized consumer audio brand, has announced the sale of its Bose Professional Division that targets professional AV integrators with architectural loudspeakers, amplifiers, signal processors and conferencing equipment. The unit was acquired by Transom Capital Group, a private equity firm. Terms were not disclosed.

Framingham, Mass.-based Bose will retain its portable PA systems that currently sit within the Bose Professional product portfolio as part of its core consumer product business. Founded in 1964, Bose Professional developed audio systems for commercial and conferencing applications that are targeted at AV integrators, system designers, installers and consultants. The company’s products have been installed professionally in workplaces, houses of worship, universities, restaurants, retail stores, hotels, performing arts centers, stadiums and more.
